Here are the interpretations of each card by Barbara Moore and my analysis below it.
THE DEVIL - "The message of the Devil is a warning...the Devil is imperfect balance recklessly pursued. Anything in the extreme--eating, working, sexual activity, exercising--leads to an unbalanced life. Take heed and moderate your behavior. Keep watch for obsessions in your life. Do not let any belief or practice overshadow all other aspects of your life or your responsibilities for yourself and others. Be aware of being so afraid of pleasures out of fear of addiction that you repress or deny all desires, even healthy ones" (Moore 67).
Basically The Devil card is saying that an obsession in a pleasure or belief can take over your life by making you forget your responsibilities and even the things that are important to you. I can see this interpretation on the card because of the mask the man is wearing. The masked man represents a person being blinded by their obsession to the point where they stop having consideration for anything else (Moore 67). The man also seems to be burning by the fire. To me, this represents an obsession destroying someone when it gets out of hand. It's like a spark of fire in a forest turning into a raging blaze that destroys everything in its pathway. But how does this relate to the querent? Well, it could be possible that the obsession the querent had was a belief like, "I can only be successful if I work alone" or a hobby that got in the way of their school work.
TWO OF CUPS - "You are faced with the opportunity to partner with someone, whether it is a romantic union or a business venture. Whichever it is, the potential for creating something very special is there. Honor the gift of the moment and enjoy it. Be aware of unrealized potential...Enjoy the magic of the moment but do not let it enslave you" (Moore 93).
This card represents a start of a romantic relationship with someone by showing a women and a guy staring dreamily at each other. It also shows a shimmery light that starts at their own individual cup and clashes in the middle. It's a spark of a potential relationship. However, if the querent is not careful this romance can be a knife that'll hurt them instead. Relating this to the topic of career, it could mean that the querent has to beware of being absorbed in a romance that'll prevent them from achieving their career.
ACE OF CUPS - "You are being drawn by a feeling. Your emotions are engaged and you feel more alive than usual. It may be the beginning of a romance, a spiritual epiphany, or a desire to express yourself artistically....[it's a] start of an exciting adventure. Be aware of running from this experience. Do not fear, discount, or avoid the intensity of your feelings. Although it may feel uncomfortable at first, learn to identify and express your emotions" (Moore 92).
The Ace of Cups interpretation is shown through the different appearances of the moon. Just like how the moon appears differently depending on the focus of the Sun, the way we express our emotions is also different. Sometimes it is uncomfortable to show your emotions to others and even identify them yourself, but try your best to and don't run away from it. In the future, the querent needs to overcome this in order to achieve or continue their career.

This was a really interesting topic, and the analysis of the cards was good too. Maybe the three of them combined together mean something about their relationships with others being too obsessive or that they aren't expressing themselves? The interpretation is up to the tarot reader, of course :)

ReplyDeleteThat could be the case. I was trying my best to relate it to their career since that was the question. However, the cards seemed to have a mind of their own and popped up a lot of relationship messages. I was thinking that maybe this is causing a negative effect on their career.
