There are many tactics upon winning the game. You can have set-plays, a special formation, secret weapons, etc.
My kent united team tries to space out the field so we have enough space to run, pass, shoot, etc. We run a 4-2-3-1. It looks something like this:
We try to widen out the field so it makes it more complicated for the defense to attack us when we have the ball since they have to shift faster than if we were all bunched in the middle. Also, this tactic works because not everyone is clumped in the middle but organized in a way that we are able to move freely. By being able to make runs on the outsides or giving the ball to the wingers, you are able to have more options of passing rather than trying to force it down the center of the field.
Another soccer formation is the 4-3-3. Teams only really use this if they are not as good on the offensive runs but they are at least standard or above on the defensive side.
I do not like this tactic as much because they don't abuse their materials by using the space on the outside of the field but they get all bunched in the middle. In my opinion, its harder to play soccer when everyone is in the inside of the field yet there's rarely anyone on the wing or making runs on the outside.
