Post 4 New Guide To Skiing

If you have done the prior steps properly you are now capable of learning how to ski other types of terrain other than piste groomed runs.

#1 Skiing moguls (bumps). If you can master skiing moguls your technique and skill will grow greatly. First you need find a line and stick to it as you work down the hill. If you find a good line down through the moguls and stick to it this will make the way down much easier. Stay in the low points of the crest of the mogul, keep your legs tight and parallel and shift your weight into the turns.

#2 Skiing chunder. Chunder is snow that is hard and punchy. It is difficult to ski but with the same idea of skiing moguls it will make it easier than trying to power through it. Pick your line keep your technique well together and keep your speed. If you slow down the harder it will be to turn through this type of terrain.

#3 Skiing powder. When skied correctly powder is the best conditions to ski in my opinion. Now that you have began to ski many types of terrain and master your technique you can take these steps and put them right onto the slopes and ski powder with ease. Keep your technique well put together, your speed at a comfortable fast pace and your confidence high. In deeper powder you will need to "hop turn" to get your skis through the turn.

  1. Although i do not ski, my dad does and he always tell me about his pain of riding through powder with his k2's which are not meant for powder. I guess we need a new pair of ski's or at least get the hop turns in!
